Brady carved up the Cowboys with relentless precision, completing eight of nine passes for 78 yards and converting the drives lone third down with a two-yard sneak to the Dallas 27.Its nerve-racking watching a guy like that with the ball, Bryant said. Hes a great player … one of the best ever in the NFL.It was the 32nd time Brady has led the Pats (5-1) to a triumph following a fourth-quarter deficit or tie, and it marked his 116th victory in tandem with Bill Belichick, tying Miamis Don Shula and Dan Marino for the most of any coach/QB combination since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger.[Yahoo! Sports Radio:  Devin McCourty on having Tom Brady on his side ]Its hard not to draw a contrast between the legions of coaches who tighten up when the game is on the line, as Garrett did on Sunday, and the Johnsons and Belichicks of the world, who arent afraid of big risks and the consequences that follow when they dont result in the desired outcome. My advice to Garrett is to get a lot bolder in the very near future, especially as it relates to trusting his quarterback. He can still have a successful season. The Cowboys are only a game-and-a-half behind the Giants in the NFC East, and theyve got a much stronger team than people realize, especially when Bryant and Austin are healthy.Dallas defense is much-improved under first-year coordinator Ryan, which is why Romo refused to mope after Garretts three-handoffs-and-a-punt strategy gave Brady the chance to do that thing he does.I believe in my defense, Romo said. These guys have done such a phenomenal job for us this year. I believed until the last minute. But hey, it happens. … It sucks.Jones most certainly shared that opinion. Alex Smith, the leading candidate for Comeback Player of the Century, provided the winning points for San Francisco (5-1) on a fourth-down, six-yard touchdown pass to tight end Delanie Walker(notes) with 1:51 remaining. Then, hilarity ensued. (Well get to that shortly.) … Last week, the Raiders scored a dramatic and emotional victory over the Texans on the day after the death of legendary owner Al Davis. On Sunday, they returned to Oakland for a more thoughtful remembrance that included chilling moments like Hall of Fame coach John Madden lighting an eternal flame in the corner of the stadium. Theyre gonna get at least a field goal, Jones grumbled in his luxury suite after the Cowboys, clinging to a three-point lead with less than three minutes remaining, punted the ball back to the Pats following three consecutive running plays. Well be lucky to get to overtime.Ten plays, 80 yards and a little more than two minutes later, Jones suspicions had been confirmed. Bradys eight-yard strike to tight end Aaron Hernandez(notes) in the back of the end zone delighted 68,756 fans and rankled numerous Cowboys players and coaches, several of whom would later question Garretts conservative play-calling throughout the final six-and-a-half minutes – all under the condition that their names not be used.Jones, however, went on the record with his frustration after watching his talented team fall to 2-3.[ NFL Week 6: Five most valuable | Five least valuable ]When you get in a situation like that, youve got to go for the kill, Jones told Y! By treating his quarterback like an irresponsible teenager lobbying to take the family car on a road trip, Garrett – and not Romo – was the one who gagged under pressure.Thats because while many critics bash Romo as a second-tier quarterback whose penchant for making brutal mistakes at key moments is an insuperable flaw, Jones still believes the 31-year-old passer possesses greatness. The owner demonstrated his commitment four years ago with a six-year, $67.4 million contract extension through the 2013 season. He reaffirmed that faith on Sunday evening, just two weeks removed from Romos miserable second half against the Detroit Lions that resulted in the biggest collapse in franchise history.I do have complete confidence in him making throws at the end of a ballgame, Jones said. Weve been burned a couple of times this year, but I still like his chances in those situations. In other words, Garrett blew it by not having enough faith in his boss faith in Romo. You can spin the coachs late-game decisions however you like – the product of post-traumatic stress from the Lions game; an endorsement of Dallas defense, which had effectively executed coordinator Rob Ryans shrewd game plan against the Pats potent offense for 57 minutes; a typically puckered-up approach in a league of play-it-safe coaches – but the outcome was preventable and predictable, at least in Jones eyes. The owner wasnt second-guessing Garretts calls; he hated them in the moment, too. After all, Romo was slinging it on Sunday. Aside from a first-quarter interception to Kyle Arrington(notes), the quarterback was assertive, accurate and commanding for the balance of the afternoon. He would finish 27-of-41 passing for 317 yards and a touchdown despite being reduced to the second coming of Captain Checkdown when the game was on the line.

The NFL trade deadline typically comes and goes without a flutter, as teams rarely part with big-name players during the season, something that has always puzzled me. I mean, wouldn't it make sense for the Colts to deal some veterans, or for a QB-strapped team to go after a veteran signal-caller? That sounds like a Pick Six for another day, but in the wake of Brandon Lloyd moving to St. Louis on Monday, here are the six biggest midseason deals in league history.     Honorable mention: Randy Moss traded to Vikings in 2010Everybody was caught off guard when the Patriots sent Moss and a seventh-round pick to his original team in exchange for a third-round choice. However, the biggest shock came when the Vikings realized this was not the same Moss who terrorized teams during his previous stint. They ended up releasing the enigmatic receiver after some unpleasantness in a buffet line.LikePaul Spinelli/Associated Press    6. John Hadl traded to Packers in 1974Hadl formed a potent passing combination with Lance Alworth during the 1960s in San Diego. The quarterback was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 1973 and led the team to the playoffs that year, along with being selected NFC Player of the Year. But Hadl was traded to the Packers during the 1974 campaign after losing the starting job to James Harris. And really, what should be noted is that QBs should be allowed to wear numbers in the 20s.LikeNational Football League   cheap nfl jerseys china, Ray Lewis Jersey, wholesale nfl jerseys free shipping, DeSean Jackson Jersey Authentic , Lance Briggs Jersey, wholesale jerseys china, Chad Ochocinco Jersey Authentic , Texans Andre Johnson Jersey, Green Bay Packers Randall Cobb Authentic Jersey, Kenny Britt Jersey , Redskins DeAngelo Hall Authentic Jersey, Colts Donald Brown Jersey, Seahawks Aaron Curry Authentic Jersey, wholesale jerseys 5. Brett Favre traded to Jets in 2008While this deal technically happened in the preseason, I am going to allow it. This trade had so many ramifications, from Aaron Rodgers finally getting to start to the Jets tanking during the stretch drive after an injury to Favre, which eventually led to New York moving up to select Mark Sanchez in the 2009 draft.LikeThomas E. Witte/Associated Press    4. Bobby Layne traded to Steelers in 1958Layne won three championships with the Lions, the final one coming in 1957. But Layne was sent to Pittsburgh during the 1958 season to be reunited with coach Buddy Parker (with whom he won two titles previously). Legend has it that Layne cursed the Lions by saying that the team would not win for 50 years, which has been discounted by some. But then again, is there a better way to explain Matt Millen's time in Detroit?LikeNational Football League    3. Michael Haynes traded to Raiders in 1983Haynes was one of the premier cornerbacks in the NFL when he was traded by the Patriots to the Los Angeles Raiders. The deal was not approved by the NFL until November, but Haynes played the final five games of the season for the Raiders and was a key member of the team's Super Bowl drive. Haynes recorded an interception in the Raiders' 38-9 win over the Redskins in Super Bowl XVIII.LikeNational Football League    2. Eric Dickerson traded to Colts in 1987Some might consider this the beginning of the end of the Rams' tenure in Los Angeles, as the team dealt Dickerson to the Colts as part of a three-way trade on Halloween night. The Rams had just started a run with Dickerson and young quarterback Jim Everett, but that was short lived. The Rams remained competitive for a few years, including a run to the 1989 NFC Championship Game, but the team petered out after that.LikeBill Kostroun/Associated Press    1. Herschel Walker traded to Vikings in 1989Most football enthusiasts' jaws dropped when the Cowboys traded Walker to the Vikings for a combination of players (most journeymen) and picks. Many even speculated that the Cowboys were crazy for trading their lone big-name player, but this worked out pretty well. How well?LikeKevin Reece/Associated Press    Emmitt Smith (Cowboys fallout from Walker deal)Jimmy Johnson used those picks (along with some other dealing) to build the Cowboys' dynasty of the 1990s. Included in that haul was the future Hall of Fame running back, who won three Super Bowl titles with Dallas.LikeNational Football League

As the initial shock of losing owner Raider Nation has settled intoserious grieving.Out at team headquarters this past week, pads were cracking onthe practice field. And phones were ringing in the front office. But there was an unmistakable air of mourning about the place. Fanswere pulling up and making their way to the flagpole out front, piling up helmets and jerseys and signed photos to build a unique Raiders memorial. Coaches andplayers were speaking in muted tones, acknowledging the void leftby a man larger than life. When Davis died, the franchise lost its spiritual leader. Today, the team will take the field and honor him in the only suitablefashion: by playing football. The team won't say what else it has planned. Team President Raiders want to surprise thefans. It almost feels as if the team is following a script that Davishimself penned. No word on a funeral service. No word on what kindof tribute is planned. Little or no word on who will be running thefootball operation going forward. To fill the void, let's consider what Davis might have wanted tosee.Al Davis would have wanted to see Raiders return to the top of theNFL, a place he felt the team rightfully belonged.I'd also like to think Davis would want the team to support thecity that has nurtured it and raised it, because Al Davis embodiedOakland. On this Sunday of remembrance, here's hoping Jeremy Maclin Jersey, Matt Hasselbeck Jersey Authentic , Authentic Johnny Knox Jersey, cheap nfl jerseys free shipping, cheap nfl jerseys free shipping, wholesale nfl jerseys free shipping, Authentic Ed Reed Jersey, Redskins Clinton Portis Jersey, Seahawks Earl Thomas Jersey, Texans Brian Cushing Authentic Jersey, Randall Cobb Authentic Jersey, cheap nfl jerseys china, cheap nfl jerseys china, wholesale jerseys china, Colts Dwight Freeney Authentic Jersey, New England Patriots Albert Haynesworth Authentic JerseyTrask and new ownerRaiders will stay in Oakland.Where they belong.Raider and dropped him in Alameda, where the fallen Ohio State star returned to practice this weekafter serving a five-game suspension for accepting illegal giftswhile playing for the Buckeyes.Somewhere, Davis was smiling as Pryor stayed on the field afterpractice Wednesday, throwing ball after ball in an effort to getback into game shape. He looked good.Cal hoops: The Cal men's basketball teamstarted practice Saturday, and it's well poised to make a run atthe Pac-12 title with a roster featuring returning shooting guard Allen Crabbe. It will be interesting to see if coach Mike Montgomery can implement the inside-outstyle of play that made his Stanford teams so competitive. DoesMonty have the length and muscle inside to make his natural systemwork? It will depend on forwards Harper Kamp and Richard Solomon, and how they play thepost.Either way, it was funny to see the whole team walking out ofthe Cal-USC game at halftime the other night, walking up ThirdStreet as a posse. With senior guard Jorge Gutierrez leading the way, the Bears hadhad enough of watching their football brethren struggle, losing20-0 at the half.Hard to imagine people leaving the Cal-USC basketball game thiswinter under similar circumstances.  Three questions:1. If Cal football continues to falter, can Berkeley afford tobuy out coach Jeff Tedford2.  Michael Vick's much publicized wishes might be starting to come true.    Listen to the 2011 NFL season LIVE -- hear all the action online in premium sound quality with NFL Audio Pass. Sign up now!    After Vick badly bruised his right hand in a loss to the New York Giants, he got on his soapbox and lectured the media on how the NFL wasn't protecting him to the degree it does other star quarterbacks. Message received. The NFL fined Buffalo Bills linebacker Danny Batten $15,000 for his hit on Vick during the Bills' Week 5 win over the Eagles. Batten also drew a 15-yard personal foul on the play. Chicago Bears safety Brandon Meriweather was fined $25,000 for his late hit on Detroit Lions wideout Nate Burleson, another blow in what's been a lousy week for Meriweather. It was reported Thursday that Meriweather and fellow safety Chris Harris will be benched Sunday because of their poor play Monday night in a loss to the Lions. Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Richard Seymour was hit with a $15,000 fine for his hit on Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub. Earlier this week, New Orleans Saints safety Roman Harper and Giants safety Kenny Phillips each admitted they were fined $15,000 and $20,000, respectively. The Minnesota Vikings' quest for a new stadium has caught the attention of the league office, with the NFL concerned by the progress of the stadium initiative, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The NFL stadium and finance committees are concerned enough, in fact, that officials are traveling to the Twin Cities next week to assess the situation, according to the source.    The Vikings are in the final year of their lease at the Metrodome and are seeking a new long-term home in the greater-Minneapolis area. The state of Minnesota has recently used funds towards building two new stadiums, however, and the prospects of getting public funding to a new home for the Vikings has become an issue of primary concern for the team. NFL Executive Vice President Eric Grubman and Senior Vice President Neil Glat will meet on Monday and Tuesday with state leaders, including Gov. Mark Dayton, to get an update and to gain more insight on the situation. The Vikings, due to the antiquated nature of the Metrodome -- the roof collapsed last season after a December blizzard -- and the struggles to get a new stadium, are often among the teams listed as possibly moving to a new facility in Los Angeles at some point.  Follow Jason La Canfora on Twitter @JasonLaCanfora.Jay Cutler Authentic Jersey, DeSean Jackson Authentic Jersey, Ed Reed Authentic Jersey, Titans Kenny Britt Jersey , Arian Foster Authentic Jersey, cheap nfl jerseys free shipping, Redskins Chris Cooley Jersey, Dwight Freeney Authentic Jersey, Authentic Aaron Curry Jersey, Charles Woodson Jersey Authentic , cheap nfl jerseys free shipping, Titans Jake Locker Jersey, cheap nfl jerseys china, Lofa Tatupu Jersey Authentic, Deion Branch Authentic Jersey, Brian Cushing Jersey Authentic

To learn a thing or two about hard work and humble beginnings, consider the story of Wes Welker. Listed at 5-foot-9 and 185 pounds, Welker didn't make a strong impression on NFL personnel folks in 2004, when he went undrafted out of Texas Tech. The San Diego Chargers signed him, and even though Welker made the roster out of training camp, the team gave up on him after the first game. From there, Welker signed with the Miami Dolphins, who for nearly three seasons primarily used him as a return specialist and third/fourth receiving option. Then came 2007, when Welker signed with the New England Patriots. All he has done since then is become Tom Brady's favorite weapon and, as a result, one of the elite wide receivers in the NFL.    Was there ever a chance Welker believed his career would turn out this way? "No, I thought I was going to return kicks and punts my whole career," Welker said during an interview that aired Sunday on "NFL GameDay Morning" on NFL Network. "I didn't know that it could become this. ... I was just trying to keep a job. I wasn't looking for a big contract or anything like that. I just wanted to keep a job and make minimum. I was more than happy with that. So I just thought that's what it was going to be. "And I was like, 'The more receiver I can play, you know, then they'll see I can do that and help out there, and they'll keep me around longer.' But, you know, I had no idea that it would ever turn into this."  This being the greatest season of his career and one of the best the NFL has ever witnessed through five weeks. Welker entered Sunday's play with 45 catches for 740 yards and five touchdowns. Those numbers put him in position to break Marvin Harrison's single-season record for receptions (143 in 2002) and Jerry Rice's mark for receiving yards (1,848 in 1995). It's difficult to believe a guy who is 5-foot-nothing and a-hundred-and-nothing pounds would outproduce his more athletic counterparts -- the Larry Fitzgeralds, Andre Johnsons and Roddy Whites of the world. But that's exactly what has happened.    "I think it's just a culmination of things," Welker said. "The training I put in this offseason and the workload that, you know, I wanted to really take on this year. ... I wanted to come out here and have a great year and really get things going. And, you know, we're off to a good start. Hopefully we'll keep it going. But, you know, having No. 12 back there never hurts, either." Last year proved to be a long road to recovery as he spent the 2010 offseason rehabilitating his left knee after tearing both the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in Week 17 of the 2009 season. The knee held up for most of 2010 (he missed five games), but something wasn't right. Even though Welker was named to his third Pro Bowl in 2010, he knew his 86 catches for 848 yards and seven touchdowns was a down year for him. Welker believed he lost his burst. He questioned whether or not he could regain the pep in his step, given all the hard work he put into the 2010 offseason. Even though things didn't work immediately, Welker remained confident he could return to form if he just continued training. "(The 2010 offseason was) seven days of work -- always doing something, massages, breaking down the scar tissue, trying to do all the things necessary to try and get back out there on that field," Welker said. "I wouldn't say I was at the point where I wanted to be last year. But I put myself in the best-case scenario I could going into that year. But, you know, having this past offseason to really train and really get after it, I think I'm really starting to get back to my old self." It shows.

Al Davis, with them, a week after he passed away. The atmosphere there will be amped, to say nothing of the chance for Oakland to go 4-2 and keep piling up AFC wins.  Rating: Six-inch Watch: Game Preview   Miami at New York8:30 p.m.  ET, ESPNGet Tickets  Why to watch: These two teams come in on streaks of seven collective consecutive losses, so something has to give, right? Miami, off a bye, turns to Matt Moore at quarterback, while the Jets look to restore some bite in that defense and might have found the perfect opponent to feast on.  Inside slant: Ex-Jet and current Dolphin, again, Jason Taylor said now-injured QB Chad Henne is better than Mark Sanchez. Rex Ryan loves bulletin board material and Sanchez gets some for a big game. New York's receivers, now minus Derrick Mason, are not getting involved or making a mark. Miami's secondary has been as bad as any in football, though.  Rating: Pita Watch: Game Preview   St. Louis at Green Bay1:00 p.m.  ET, FOXGet Tickets  Why to watch: One of the remaining winless teams faces an undefeated squad. Could the Packers have this big of a letdown game after the hard-fought Sunday night comeback in Atlanta? Have the Rams made some sage adjustments out of the bye?  Inside slant: The Packers' maligned offensive line is going to be tested now again with left tackle Chad Clifton out for awhile and right tackle Bryan Bulaga an injury concern as well. Steve Spagnuolo loves to attack the passer. And turnovers can always be the great equalizer.  Rating: Finger sandwich Watch: Game Preview   Jacksonville at Pittsburgh1:00 p.m.  ET, CBSGet Tickets  Why to watch: This game looks like a mismatch, but the Steelers have been vulnerable to outside run plays and Maurice Jones-Drew can still break them off. If the blowout losses mount, the calls for Jack Del Rio to be replaced would only grow louder.  Inside slant: It's hard to imagine seeing Blaine Gabbert holding up against a Dick LeBeau defense.  Rating: Finger sandwich Watch: Game Preview   Indianapolis at Cincinnati1:00 p.m.  ET, CBSGet Tickets  Why to watch: So the Colts have thrown their hats firmly in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, eh? With that total collapse against the Chiefs last week, that wasn't much in doubt. The Bengals have been playing very physical football this season, and Colts quarterback Curtis Painter has to bring the show out of the dome and on the road.  Inside slant: Andy Dalton is having a very strong rookie campaign and is not turning the ball over. In his first interview since suffering his season-ending injury in week one, the three-time Pro Bowl selection said he plans to be "better than ever" when he returns next season. "At first it's hard to come to grips with missing a play, missing a game," said Beason, whose streak of 65 straight starts ended with Carolina's loss to Arizona on Sept. 11.    "Then having to sit home in a splint, not able to leave the house, it's tough because I couldn't be here for my team. But now that I can, I feel better about it. I'm content. The outlook is forward. I'm just concentrating on what I can do as a teammate. For me, it's all about September of 2012." Beason and teammate Thomas Davis, who's also on injured reserve, still attend team meetings, watch film of opponents and give the team's younger linebackers tips. Beason injured his Achilles while trying to run down Cardinals tight end Jeff King. "It felt like I got hit with a stick," Beason said. "When I fell down, I thought someone had tripped me, like when someone hits your heel and you stumble. When I turned around, I realized no one was there. Then I grabbed my calf, and it was just mush." Beason, who uses a self-operated wheeling scooter to get around, said he'll be out of his cast soon and will then wear a walking boot. "I plan on being better. I've had setbacks before, and there's always an opportunity to do something great when you come back. In my mind, I expect to be back to my normal self, and then being a year older in the system and in my career, I expect to play even better next year."  Copyright 2011 by The Associated PressKenny Britt Jersey , Chad Ochocinco Jersey Authentic , Redskins DeAngelo Hall Authentic Jersey, Lance Briggs Jersey, Green Bay Packers Randall Cobb Authentic Jersey, DeSean Jackson Jersey Authentic , wholesale jerseys china, Seahawks Aaron Curry Authentic Jersey, wholesale jerseys, cheap nfl jerseys china, Ray Lewis Jersey, wholesale nfl jerseys free shipping, Texans Andre Johnson Jersey, Colts Donald Brown Jersey

Everyone in Philadelphia is seeking an explanation for why the "Dream Team" is off to a 1-4 start, and this week, much of the blame has been directed toward Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. Castillo, who spent last year as the Eagles' offensive line coach, has struggled with his transition to the defensive side, and ESPN reported Wednesday that Eric Mangini turned down a defensive consultant's role with the team. The Eagles denied the report, but that didn't stop reporters from bringing up the subject during Castillo's Thursday news conference.    When asked about the Mangini report, Castillo said he "spent yesterday focused on stopping (the) Redskins' run. Coach (Andy) Reid hasn't talked to me about anything." "I have a TV where I watch the tape, but I'll go home tonight to see my kids, then I'll go to sleep so I can get back early in the morning, but I haven't been paying attention to the TV or the radio," Castillo told reporters. "... I'm focused on one thing, I have a responsibility to coach Reid, to Mr. Laurie, and to the city of Philadelphia." While Castillo refused to address the notion of a defensive consultant, he didn't shy away from the team's issues on defense. Castillo said one of the biggest things his unit must fix is its performance in the red zone, where he believes the secondary gives up too many big plays. Castillo hinted there could be a change made at safety this week as Jaiquawn Jarrett has spent time practicing with the first team in place of struggling Jarrad Page. "I'm disappointed that we're 1-4," Castillo said. "Defense wins championships, and we need to help get wins. As a defense, you're supposed to win the game. ... That's what I am most disappointed about."

When Rob Ryan's Dallas defense lines up against the New EnglandPatriots on Sunday, the Cowboys are shooting to keep Tom Brady guessing right down to the end. So what can the Patriots expect from the NFL's fourth-ranked defense? "Pretty much the kitchen sink, to put it lightly," defensive end Kenyon Coleman told The Dallas Morning News.    Dallas has closely studied New England's 34-14 loss to Cleveland last season, the last time the Patriots were held to under 30 points in a regular-season game. Ryan was the Browns' defensive coordinator at the time, and nobody has allowed fewer points since. Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware has poured over that game film and believes he has found the missing puzzle piece. "(Cleveland) kept them off kilter the whole time," Ware said. "... I wish I could tell you our game plan. It's a lot of stuff going in this week." The Morning News reports that Ryan's belief in his defense is off the charts and he plans to outdo the game plan he drew up with the Browns. This excites safety Abe Elam, who played in Cleveland under Ryan before migrating to Dallas before this season. "I'm hoping it will be fiction," Elam said. "... Coming in, everyone is building (the Patriots) up to be the greatest team out there. As a competitor, that is what you look forward to." Ryan's confidence is epic -- his boasts just a notch below that -- but he has shown he can cause problems for Brady with less roster talent than what's in Dallas' stable.  ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A report released Wednesday raised new questions about the cost and complications of building a Minnesota Vikings stadium on a heavily contaminated site in a Twin Cities suburb as the team said it saw nothing to derail the project and vowed to push harder than ever to get approval from reluctant state lawmakers. The study, commissioned by Gov. Mark Dayton and prepared by the Metropolitan Council, called the goal of completing the Arden Hills stadium by 2015 "unrealistic" and said 2016 or 2017 was more likely. A longer construction timeframe would likely increase the current $1.1 billion price tag, the report said, threatening to tap out a half-cent Ramsey County sales tax hike proposed to pay about a third of the total cost.    The lack of progress has raised fears about the Vikings' future in Minnesota, where the team is playing out the final year of its lease at the Metrodome. Dayton, in a news release, refused to back either the Arden Hills site or any of three potential sites that would keep the team in downtown Minneapolis. He said if team officials want the suburban site they must indicate "whether they will accept the possibly longer timeline ... and whether they will pay for any resulting additional costs." Vikings owner Zygi Wilf and his allies from the Ramsey County Board held a joint news conference and said they saw nothing in the report that would stop the project. "The issues and concerns listed are solvable, and already being negotiated with state leaders," Wilf said. He didn't close the door on the team paying more than the $407 million they have pledged so far, with team vice president Lester Bagley saying the Vikings' ultimate contribution would be "somewhere north" of that amount.  Copyright 2011 by The Associated Presswholesale jerseys, Authentic Seahawks Lofa Tatupu Jersey, Nick Collins Jersey Authentic , Santana Moss Authentic Jersey, Authentic Albert Haynesworth Jersey, Colts Pierre Garcon Jersey, Jay Cutler Jersey Authentic , wholesale jerseys china, Authentic Matt Hasselbeck Jersey, Authentic Ray Rice Jersey, cheap nfl jerseys free shipping, Authentic Jay Cutler Jersey, Texans Arian Foster Authentic Jersey, Jordy Nelson Authentic Jersey, Michael Vick Jersey, cheap nfl jerseys china

Steve Smith's experiencing a revival this season behind the play of rookie Cam Newton, and the Panthers wideout isn't about to let some rough play get him down. Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Thursday that safety Roman Harper was fined for his late hit on Smith after the wideout's first-quarter, 54-yard touchdown catch in the Panthers' 30-27 loss.    Harper tagged Smith with force just after the receiver crossed the goal line, a hit that resulted in a tussle between the teams. ESPN reported Thursday that Harper's fine stands at $15,000. Harper isn't about to apologize, either. "My reaction is a smile on my face," Harper said of the fine on Thursday. "That's all you get out of me. They are in my pocket, what can I say? ... It was worth it. The NFL got the point, I got the point." And, according to The Charlotte Observer, Smith couldn't care less. "You best believe I'm not looking for an apology," Smith said Thursday. "I'm not looking for one, don't think I deserve one. I didn't lose any sleep over it, won't lose any sleep over it. And when we play them down there I'm not going to walk up to him and say, 'Hey, I expect an apology, or can we make amends?' It's football. "But if going up and catching a ball and scoring is disrespectful, I have no control over that. The object of the game when Cam threw the ball was for me to catch it and do the best I can with it, and that's what I did. If he wasn't a fan of it, I understand. Some people like blue cheese, some people like ranch. I'm more of a ranch guy. He's obviously more of a blue cheese guy." Hard to tell where Smith's traveling with the salad-dressing riff, but it's clear this formerly agitated wideout's got his moxie back. Newton's thrown for an astonishing 322 yards per game and big chunks of that have gone to Smith, who leads the team with 609 yards and three scores. Late hits in the end zone? Wes Welker Jersey Authentic 2011-Oct-13
In his robust Inside The NFL notebook below, NFL Network's Albert Breer touches on multiple topics including (click on the link to take you directly there):  » Four things he's looking forward to in Week 6  » Two cornerbacks with two very different problems  » What Al Davis did at the last game he attended  » Where Super Bowl 50 possibly will be played  » And much more, beginning with how far the NFL is from having an international franchise ...    The NFL Fall Meeting earlier this week indicated what the league hopes again will be proven next Sunday in London: The effort to go global with football is working. There are statistics to back it up. The NFL has 10 sponsors in the United Kingdom, where five years ago there was one. TV ratings are up 91 percent and Super Bowl viewership has grown by 74 percent in that timeframe, and the league counts 11 million fans, 2 million classified as "avid fans" in that nation. Heck, the BBC is covering the NFL, and drew 1.3 million viewers for its Super Bowl pregame show. But as the league prepares to play its fifth game in the NFL International Series, the next big steps -- expanding past the U.K. and, at some point, finding a way to put a team in Europe permanently -- aren't close to happening. Is the game having the effect desired? Yes. Does that mean it's time to try to turn those steps into leaps? No. Not yet, anyway. "It's definitely working. All the metrics point to that," said Chris Parsons, NFL Vice President of International. "From a total international perspective, we've doubled our international business. That's incredibly positive." But when asked about having a team in London, Parsons said, "We're certainly not putting a timeline on having a team there. We're taking this one step at a time. We know what we have to do, and that's demonstrate the fan growth we have in the past." And as for going outside the UK, Parsons explained, "We'd use the games in London as a blueprint. But to do that, it has to work in one place. There's no point in going beyond that if it doesn't. So we're focusing the revolution on the U.K." So here's where you stop. On one hand, Parsons says "it's definitely working". On the other, he adds it "has to work" in London for the league to grow further. "We want to play more than one game a season there, that's an important success criteria for us," Parsons said. "We want to establish that we can build fans for a team that goes over there and participates. Right now, we've had great growth, but we need to keep moving toward being a top five sport in the U.K. That's our ambition. That's what we have to prove we can do." Football ranks somewhere around seventh or eighth in popularity, with Parsons sizing up the top five sports in the U.K. as soccer, golf, tennis, cricket and rugby. To put that in perspective, it's roughly in the area where soccer ranks as a spectator sport in the U.S.    Instant Debate: NFL team in London?    Where will the NFL's international expansion eventually end up -- multiple games overseas or a truly international league? Our analysts debate. More ...     That signifies great progress, as does the fact that there are people playing the game there as well. The collegiate leagues are staged in the fall, while the youth and adult ranks go in the summer. But it also signifies the reality that the NFL is up against the challenge that soccer has faced here, in breaking through into the mainstream from a viewership standpoint. ETThe Atlanta Falcons can talk all they want about how positivethey remain despite a disappointing start. What they need is toturn that alleged confidence into some victories.Looking to bounce back from another disappointing defeat, theFalcons could face another stiff challenge Sunday when they hostthe improving Carolina Panthers in rookie quarterback Cam Newton'sfirst professional game in his home state.Saddled with lofty expectations, Atlanta (2-3) has already lostas many games this season as it did while going 13-3 in 2010. Aninconsistent offense and an underachieving defense can summarizethe Falcons' rough start, but that's not enough to set the reigningNFC South champs into panic mode. Not even after they were outscored 19-0 in the second half of a25-14 home loss to undefeated Green Bay in a playoff rematch lastSunday."Certainly you have expectations to go out and play well,''quarterback Matt Ryan said. "We haven't done that. But it's a longyear. We're at that point where we've done some things really well, but we've also done some things poorly. We've got to feed off thosepositive things."Ryan's play has contributed to his team's early struggles. Thefourth-year signal caller has a 79.9 passer rating and has thrownsix interceptions - three fewer than he threw all of last season, when he posted a career-high 91.0 rating."I need to play better," Ryan said. "All our guys need to playbetter. That's what we're trying to do.''Ryan's 196 attempts rank third in the NFL behind pass-happyquarterbacks Drew Brees and Tom Brady. Not exactly what coach MikeSmith envisioned from an offense he expected to be balanced.Michael Turner has rushed for 360 yards but only 146 over thelast three games. An offensive line that could be without injured center ToddMcClure (knee) for a fourth time this season has not only struggledin run blocking but also has yielded 14 sacks.Top receiver Roddy White's 32 receptions are tied for second inthe NFL, but he has just two touchdowns. All of that has caused a team that ranked fifth with 25.9 pointsper game last year, to be currently ranked 21st at 20.8 percontest."We're just not clicking,'' White said. "We're not where we needto be right now. But it's only the sixth game of the season. We'vegot nothing to do but get better. I'm trying to look at the brightside.''Typically, facing Carolina (1-4) would provide a ray of hope.Atlanta won both 2010 meetings with the Panthers by scores of31-10, and has taken three straight in the series at the GeorgiaDome.Turner has averaged 102.4 yards and rushed for nine TDs in hislast five games versus Carolina. Ryan has thrown for 1,166 yardswith seven touchdowns and four interceptions while the Falcons havewon four of five overall from the Panthers. However, things might not come so easily for the Falcons in2011. ETThe Jets addressed their combustiblechemistry by getting rid of one of the ingredients last night. The team reached an agreement in principle to trade widereceiver Derrick Mason to the Texans for a conditional seventhrounddraft pick, according to two league sources. The move comes twodays after Mason sat on the bench for most of the Jets' 30-21 loss to thePatriots.Sources said the Jets were upset with Mason's failureto learn the playbook and have decided to go with rookie JeremyKerley as the No. 3 receiver. A source said Mason had been flyinghome to Nashville every Monday and Tuesday with the team'spermission, but that contributed to his difficulty learning theoffense.Mason joined the team just two months ago, signing a twoyeardeal after the team released veteran receiver Jerricho Cotchery. The 37-year-old receiver and Jets coach Rex Ryan knew each otherwell from their days together with the Ravens, and both spokehighly of the other. Ryan even predicted Mason would catch90-to-100 passes this season. But Mason never seemed to click withthe Jets, and finished with just 13catches for 115 yards in five games. After last week's 34-17 loss to the Ravens, Mason was one of themost vocal Jets about the team's problems."Somebody has got to man up and say, 'Hey we've got to get thisdone,' " Mason said. "You saw it, there are some cracks, and nobodyreally wants to identify the crack. Until we identify the cracks,we're going to keep having the same problems. Whenever somebodywants to fill up the cracks, then we can continue to moveforward."Ryan said those comments had no bearing on Mason's playing timeSunday, but it could not have helped his standing with theorganization. Mason was much less chatty after Sunday's 30-21 lossin New England when asked about his reduced playing time."That's something you've got to ask the coaches," Mason said."I'm not going to get into whether [Ryan] and I talked or not. That's something you've got to ask Coach about."Mason was also named in a published report that said the Jets' wide receivers complainedabout the offense to Ryan. Everyone associated with the team hasdenied the report. During his press conference Monday, Ryan wasasked if he were happy with Mason."Well, guys, let's face it. I thought Derrick would catch 80 to90 balls," Ryan said. "That hasn't happened. I think we were goingto be more three wides, but in that particular plan we tightened itup a little bit."Ryan gave no indication the team was planning to ship Masonout."Derrick's going to still be a part of what we do, I justthought we can do some things with Kerley," Ryan said. "There's nothing fancy about Fister. He's just effective, throwing strikes with remarkable consistency. He gave up seven hits in his 7 1/3 innings Tuesday, but Fister didn't walk a batter for the eighth time in his 12 starts with the Tigers.Since coming to Detroit in a trade that cost the Tigers four young prospects, Fister has 70 strikeouts and just nine walks, an improvement from an already strong 89-32 ratio in Seattle.Perhaps it's the increased confidence that comes with pitching for a team that doesn't leave him tight-roping through low-scoring affairs. In Seattle, he had an AL-low 1.97 in run support and lost one game 1-0 when the lone tally came after a runner mistakenly was awarded first base on a three-ball walk. That run-support number ballooned to 5.89 in his first 12 outings in Detroit, and the Tigers came through with five more Tuesday."Maybe he's a little more aggressive, knowing he can play a little bit," said reliever David Pauley, who came to the Tigers along with Fister in the trade with Seattle. "He's not so worried about giving up that one run. It's been fun for him. He's taking advantage of it." Texas touched Fister for a run early with three consecutive singles to open the game, but he then rolled out six straight scoreless innings -- allowing just three well-spaced singles -- before giving up a leadoff double in the eighth that led to his second run after he was replaced by Joaquin Benoit."He was throwing the ball well," Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz said after an 0-for-3 night. "I saw one pitch that I could drive. Everything else was inside on my hands. He didn't leave many pitches over the plate.""His sinker was moving a lot," said first baseman Michael Young, another 0-for-4 victim. "Nothing was coming in straight."That is Fister's key to success. He doesn't overpower batters with his 90-mph fastball, but he has a downward arm angle and deceptive movement, along with a game plan that clearly is working."There's a point where everybody realizes what you have and you just have to come to terms with it and stay within yourself," he said. "One quote I've always found was, 'Be the best version of yourself you can be.' Whatever that is. Whether it's a 95-mph fastball or 86-mph fastball, you just have to do your best with it and locate it."And when he was done Tuesday, when Leyland took him out in the eighth inning, the normally stoic Fister touched the brim of his cap twice as he walked off the field to a standing ovation."We're at home here and everybody is on their feet, waving those white flags," Fister said. "It gives me goose bumps to remember walking off to that, and it's kind of nice as a fan to be acknowledged and to know that you're there."We definitely appreciate the fan base we have here in Detroit, and as players, we aren't afraid to go out there and say thank you."Authentic Tennessee Titans Jersey, Authentic Lofa Tatupu Jersey, Texans Jersey, Colts Jersey, Brian Cushing Jersey, wholesale jerseys, Donald Brown Authentic Jersey, Jake Locker Authentic Jersey, wholesale nfl jerseys free shipping, Authentic Chris Cooley Jersey, Official Seattle Seahawks Jersey, Authentic Washington Redskins Jersey

"I'm the player, and I live with it."Cornerback Andre' Goodman said in a subdued locker room that the players felt bad that Orton had to take the fall for the team's failures - they rank 25th in the league in both offense and defense."At the end of the day, we're all disappointed for Kyle because it almost implicates him" as the reason for the 1-4 start, Goodman said. "It's not the case. It could've been me. It could've been anybody on this team. None of us are doing a good enough job."There also was a twinge of excitement in the locker room over Tebow's promotion Tuesday."He's just a baller, an all-out baller," linebacker Joe Mays said. "Some people may call him unorthodox, but at the end of the day, he gets the job done."The Broncos will have to adjust their offense for Tebow, but Fox downplayed the difficulty."Well, it's not like we signed him off the street," Fox said. "He's been in meetings the whole season."The Broncos will have to determine if they want to continue pressing Tebow to become a prototypical pro passer or focus on capitalizing on skills that made him a great combination college quarterback - some say the best ever.Do they spend time on his mechanics and motion or add more shotgun snaps and designed runs to the game plan? There's a list a football field long of running quarterbacks who didn't survive long in the NFL, yet Tebow brushes that off."Honestly, I've heard that a lot, heard that my whole life and I see a lot of good quarterbacks running the ball really effectively from Steve Young all the way down," Tebow said. "So, I'm going to try to do whatever they ask me to do and if that's hand the ball off, if that's drop back, if that's run around, I'll do whatever I can do to help this team win football games."Tebow did show more patience in the pocket Sunday, progressing through his reads and buying some time. Still on his to-do list are little things like repeating his release point and keeping his palms together when he takes J.D. Walton's snaps from under center."That's something that we did in practice today and got a lot better at because before that game I'd probably taken a handful of snaps with him this year," Tebow said.Hindering the Broncos and their new quarterback, however, is the new collective bargaining agreement that stipulates teams must give players four consecutive days off during the bye week. So, the Broncos will only get two practices totaling about four hours this week, then take a four-day furlough during which only injured players can come in, and then only to get treatment.According to the CBA, during that four-day stretch, players cannot participate in club-supervised workouts or practices, meetings with coaches, film study with coaches or playbook study with coaches."Well, I don't think there's any rules against like watching film or throwing on my own or continuing to work on things," Tebow said with a smile. "So, I'll probably try to do that."Wide receiver Eric Decker said he's willing to give up his vacation to work out the kinks with Tebow."If he wants you to come in and throw some routes and get that timing to win a football game, I'll do anything at this point," Decker said.Despite a resume that includes All-America honors, two national championships and a Heisman Trophy, Tebow never came close to beating out Orton in the summer of 2010 or `11.Yet, Orton turned ordinary when the games started to count. His puzzling slide hit bottom Sunday when he went 6 for 13 for 34 yards in the first half against the Chargers and threw his seventh interception, tied for most in the league. He also has two fumbles."I'm disappointed with everything," said Orton, 6-21 since winning his first six games as Denver's starter. "I wish I could have played better, I wish we had a better record, I wish a lot of things, but the reality is what it is."The Broncos tried to trade Orton, who's making 9 million in the final year of his contract, when the lockout ended, but talks with Miami broke down and Fox instead threw open the quarterback competition, something for which Tebow proved ill-prepared.Orton maintained his stranglehold on the starting job during training camp and Brady Quinn also outperformed Tebow, who showed almost no progress in becoming the pocket passer that Elway has repeatedly said he must become to make it in this league. His footwork was still flawed, his throws were still off-target, and he even had trouble with the most basic of football plays: the center-quarterback exchange, after spending most of his football Authentic Colts Dallas Clark Jersey, Colts Jersey, Titans Chris Johnson Authentic Jersey, Redskins Brian Orakpo Jersey, Official Seattle Seahawks Jersey, Texans Jersey, wholesale jerseys china, Seahawks Aaron Curry Authentic Jersey, Texans Arian Foster Authentic Jersey, cheap nfl jerseys china, Authentic Washington Redskins Jersey, Authentic Tennessee Titans Jersey

Giants defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy was suspended four games by the league for a violation of the substance-abuse policy.Kennedy, 31, signed with the Giants in August and has been an effective part of the defensive line rotation.A former first-round pick by St. Louis, Kennedy was released by the Vikings during the offseason. In just nine games last season, the nine-year veteran recorded only eight tackles and a half sack as he tried to come back from an early season scope to his knee to relieve tendinitis. But the Giants signed Kennedy after rookie Marvin Austin was lost for the season. He has four tackles in five games. If you blinked during Sunday's game, chances are you missed the NFL debut of second-year man Jim Cordle, an offensive lineman who came into the game late in the fourth quarter when right guard Chris Snee had to leave the game due to a concussion. That's why head coach Tom Coughlin smiled when Cordle's name came up during his day-after press conference. That is a young man that should be recognized, and the reason why I say that is a couple years ago when we went over to Pittsburgh, they lost their long snapper, their backup center sent one over the punter's head and we got a safety out of it and it provided great momentum for us, he said, referencing the importance of having a reliable backup center on the roster.Cordle initially entered the game as the long snapper after Zak DeOssie was forced out due to a concussion. He then later received a smattering of snaps on offense, first at center and then at guard, after Snee's exit. This kid comes in the game, made a number of very good snaps, got involved in the coverage, had to go in at play at the guard spot and center spot, and did a nice job of coming into a game of that magnitude and maintaining his poise. The Seahawks' opening-drive touchdown, an 11-yard pass to receiver Ben Obomanu, marked the first time in their last 10 games that the Giants had allowed an opening-possession touchdown. The last time the Giants' defense allowed an opponent to score on its opening drive was on Nov. 28, 2010 against Jacksonville. The Browns need to be a more balanced team coming off their bye week.Getting running back Peyton Hillis more involved in the offense would take much of the burden off the shoulders of quarterback Colt McCoy.McCoy is on pace to throw almost 400 passes, which is far too much to ask of a young quarterback. The Browns want him to develop, but they don't want to force the offense to him. That's where Hillis comes in. Coach Pat Shurmur has said that Hillis is an excellent player who should be the focal point of the team's running game, but to date, games haven't been called that way.Increasing Hillis' workload would reduce would not only give McCoy's arm a break, but it could make Hillis a more effective runner.Through four games, McCoy is averaging 43 passes per game, and Hillis is averaging 18 rushes. A power back like Hillis gains strength and momentum as her runs, so 18 is too few.Asking McCoy to throw about 25 times per game would give Hillis and Montario Hardesty another 18 carries or so. Adjusting the pass-run mix figures to benefit the entire offense.Cornerback Joe Haden did not practice Monday as the Browns returned from their bye week.Haden sprained his left knee in the loss to Tennessee, and coach Pat Shurmur did not put a timetable on Haden's return except to say he was uncertain about Sunday.Sprains usually cause four to six weeks of inactivity, but it's possible Haden could return sooner.Haden's injury is not insignificant. He has been the Browns' best player in the secondary, to the point he was used solely on Brandon Marshall in a win over Miami.Losing him affects the team's ability to match up corners with receivers, and it also affects depth. Nickel back Dimitri Patterson would move up if Haden can't play, which makes rookie Buster Skrine the nickel back.No team likes to lose its best defensive back, but Haden's absence could be more significant than usual. His improvement from year one to year two was dramatic.Copyright C 2011 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved. The Vikings head to Chicago on Sunday night with a sense of confidence, despite their 1-4 record, their offensive deficiencies and their 1-9 record on the road against the Bears the past decade.Beating the Cardinals 34-10 at home  and, more importantly, finally protecting a big halftime lead 28-3  makes the Vikings believe, at least temporarily, that they weren't crazy for having high expectations for this season. In order for us to achieve what we set out to achieve before the season began, we needed to get that win Sunday, coach Leslie Frazier said. Just something we hope we can build on and really gain some momentum from as we get ready to prepare for an NFC North game against the Chicago Bears.Helping boost the confidence level was watching another meltdown by the Bears' pass protection on Monday night. Nine false starts and the continued punishment suffered by quarterback Jay Cutler in a loss in Detroit has to make the Vikings' potent pass rushers eager to get to Soldier Field.Defensive ends Jared Allen and Brian Robison are the league's top sack combo. Allen leads the NFL with 8.5, while Robison has 4.5.However, issues loom on the other side of the ball, where the Vikings actually average more yards rushing 160 than passing 155.8 per game. Quarterback Donovan McNabb has been so out of sync that Frazier spent a large chunk of his press conference the day after a 24-point win defending his decision to stick with McNabb as his starter. There's also the ongoing drama involving receiver Bernard Berrian, who was a surprise inactive on Sunday after reportedly missing two team meetings. We definitely wanted to smell and taste a win to see what it's like again, receiver Percy Harvin said. You never want to downgrade a win, but we also see we still have a lot of work to do.Vikings coach Leslie Frazier voiced confidence in Bernard Berrian amid speculation that the team was considering cutting ties with the disgruntled receiver. We'll get him back on the field on Wednesday and he'll get back into the rotation, said Frazier, who made Berrian a surprise game-day inactive on Sunday after Berrian reportedly missed two team meetings at the team hotel the night before. I don't foresee any future problems. I really expect him to play at a high level for us and play well.Berrian's value to the team has been in question for three years. He never meshed with Brett Favre in 2009 and 2010, but a new offense and new quarterback Donovan McNabb was Ryan Torain Jersey, Authentic Washington Redskins Jersey, Texans Jersey, Official Seattle Seahawks Jersey, Authentic Peyton Manning Jersey, Andre Johnson Authentic Jersey, Colts Jersey, Authentic Sean Taylor Jersey, Authentic Tennessee Titans Jersey, cheap nfl jerseys china
